The small print, in plain words
Nothing is bought on this website. Every piece starts with a message, and everything — the piece, the price, the postage — is agreed with Ru before you pay.
Last updated 4 October 2026
The website shows what Ru makes; it does not take orders or payments. You message her about a piece, she confirms it is available and what postage will be, and sends an invoice. A piece is yours once that invoice is paid. The details of payment and delivery are on the ordering page.
Prices are in New Zealand dollars. Postage is quoted separately, before you commit. If a price on the website is wrong, she will tell you before you pay, and you can walk away.
Everything is made and painted by hand. Colour, line and size vary a little from piece to piece and from the photographs — that is part of what you are buying, not a fault.
For anything made for you, including pet portraits, the design, the price and roughly how long it will take are agreed before work begins. Timings are honest estimates, not guarantees; she will tell you as soon as she knows if one is going to slip.
Because a commission is made to your request, it cannot be returned simply because you have changed your mind once it is underway. This does not limit your rights if something is wrong with it.
Pieces are packed by hand and sent by tracked courier, or collected in Wellington. If a parcel arrives damaged, tell her the same day if you can, with photographs — she will sort it out with the courier, and offer a piece made in the same spirit or your money back in full, including postage. The ordering page explains each step.
Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986. If a piece is faulty or not as described, you are entitled to a remedy.
Please follow the care guide. The planters are sealed concrete for indoor use; damage from frost, standing water or harsh cleaning is not a fault in the piece.
The designs, paintings, photographs and words on this website are Ru’s. You are welcome to share links and photographs of a piece you own, but please do not copy the designs to sell, or use the photographs as your own.
These terms are governed by New Zealand law. To the extent the law allows, Ru’s responsibility for a piece is limited to repairing, replacing or refunding it. Questions about any of this: [email protected]. See also the privacy policy.
